JetPunk is a trivia website that allows users to create and take quizzes on a wide range of topics, especially geography, history, and English language and literature. I have used the site since 2018 and am in the 99th percentile of users based on points accumulated through taking quizzes. I’ve also made several quizzes, mostly about flags and geography.
The site is a wonderful way for me to explore the possibilities of digital humanities and pedagogy in a non-academic setting and has helped me develop my own knowledge and figure out how to make fun and engaging quizzes that help others learn too. While many forms of online education use multiple choice or fill in the blank assessments, I think that JetPunk makes this much more engaging and exciting, particularly by using images and maps. Additionally, I’ve made some quizzes that are simply lists of metro areas by population of Asian Americans, but this data becomes much more dynamic when it’s presented as a quiz and the comments become places for unusually rich discussion.
